Government to launch orientation fund for promotion of appropriate economic diversification
The Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government will expedite a study for establishing a new government industrial fund and a technology achievement transformation orientation fund, commissioning a third-party institution to carry out preliminary related research work within the year. The above announcement was made by the Chief Executive, Mr Sam Hou Fai, on Tuesday afternoon during a Legislative Assembly question and answer (Q&A) session on the Policy Address for the Fiscal Year 2025. Mr Sam said that the Government’s establishment of an orientation fund was an important policy tool to support the development of emerging industries. Currently, the relevant working group is planning to entrust a third-party institution to conduct preliminary research on the fund's capital scale, management model, investment objectives, and operating model, to ensure that the fund design meets the actual development needs of Macao. The Chief Executive pointed out that promoting appropriate economic diversification in Macao was in response to a call by the Central Government. Drawing from the experiences of Hong Kong and Shenzhen in relation to emerging sectors such as high-tech industries and biomedicine, the supporting role of government-led funds has been proven to produce positive results. Therefore, the MSAR Government hopes to increase support and financial investment in a variety of industries, via the orientation fund, and diversify Macao's capital market. He added that Macao's investment-fund sector had developed to a certain extent over the past few years, and Macao's first fund open to public investors was established last year. The Government is amending the Investment Fund Law and increasing the introduction of private investment funds to allow for more diversified capital investment options and inject new impetus into industrial development. Regarding the construction of the Macao Science and Technology Research and Development Industrial Park, Mr Sam said that this was a major infrastructure project in the MSAR. The Government will strive to build the project to serve the nation’s strategic needs and make use of Macao’s international cooperation platform function, providing space and supporting facilities suitable for the development of the science and technology sectors. This is to create better conditions to attract high-quality foreign technology companies to set up shop in Macao, he said. Regarding the effective use of land to boost economic development, Mr Sam said that Macao currently has land resources that can be used to develop emerging industries. In order to make good use of these resources, the Government has proposed to build the Macao International Comprehensive Tourism and Cultural Zone, and the Macao Science and Technology Research and Development Industrial Park. It is currently studying the site selection for these projects. It is expected that relevant work can be started in the second half of this year, and the Government will listen to public opinions regarding site selection, architectural design and project content. Regarding the issue of career development for young people, the Chief Executive noted that Macao was a small place, and given its current industrial structure, it was difficult to find diverse employment options in the MSAR, unlike other regions in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Therefore, the Government needs to take multiple measures to create more employment opportunities and support young people to work in the Greater Bay Area. Steps include increasing the number of places for the Mainland Internship Program for Macao Tertiary Students. There is also the newly-launched Macao Youth Employment Program in the Greater Bay Area, with internship allowances and employment subsidies to encourage young people in Macao to go to other places in the Greater Bay Area, broaden their horizons and gain experience. Regarding the development of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, Mr Sam said that the Government will take on as a major task the high-quality realisation of the second phase development goals of the Cooperation Zone, with the ultimate objective of integrating Macao and Hengqin. The MSAR Government has established the Leading Group for Promoting the Construction of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone and a cross-departmental legal task force for the integration of Macao and Hengqin, to increase the MSAR's overall coordination of the Cooperation Zone’s construction. Mr Sam stressed that legal system development was a very important part of the overall development of the Cooperation Zone, and the Secretary for Administration and Justice and his team were promoting related work. In terms of cultivating and attracting talented people to Macao, Mr Sam said that the Government had – through a series of supporting measures – forms of targeted training, to develop individuals with talents needed for appropriate economic diversification. These include education planning, non-higher education courses, student career planning, scholarships, and higher education courses. Mr Sam added that the construction of the Macao-Hengqin International Education (University) City had been included in the list of major infrastructure to be developed. Among them, the project of the University of Macau has started, and will be fully promoted to suit the development direction of the four nascent industries in the Cooperation Zone. In addition, the MSAR government is actively creating platforms to attract talented people to settle in Macao. The talent importation scheme has entered a second phase. From August 2023 to the end of last month, 575 applicants have been included in the "List of Recommended Talents" and a third phase for the plan is also under study. Regarding the construction of the Macao Pearl River West Bank International Air Transport Hub (Port), Mr Sam said that the cargo volume of Macau International Airport exceeded 100,000 tonnes last year, an increase of nearly 70 percent over the previous year. The Government will make full use of Macao’s unique geographical advantages in terms of its siting on the west bank of the Pearl River, and do a good job in the expansion of Macau International Airport and the construction of the forward cargo terminal in Hengqin, so as to enhance the scale and competitiveness of air cargo at Macau International Airport as an international air transport hub, helping Macao make greater contributions to the country’s opening up to the outside world. In terms of supporting SMEs, Mr Sam said that the Government will continue to pay attention to the latest operating conditions of local SMEs, and review and optimise in a timely manner various measures and policies to support the development of SMEs. The Government will also set up a cross-departmental working group on business regulations to explore optimisation measures to support SMEs in terms of regulations and administrative procedures. When asked about administrative reform, Mr. Sam pointed out that strengthening the overall public administration coordination mechanism was an important measure in order to improve comprehensively governance efficiency. The current-term Government has established six leading groups and working groups, with the aim to improve cross-departmental collaboration mechanisms, and better respond to the needs of society and residents. The Chief Executive answered questions raised by 31 Legislative Assembly members during Tuesday’s plenary session. Topics discussed included policy for the elderly and the young, support for disadvantaged groups, employment for local residents, social security, allocation of education resources, youth policy, use of public finance, promotion of community beautification, tourism development, preparation for the National Games, sports, medical policy, urban renewal, and public works.

Gaming operators reminded of their duty for neutrality and impartiality regarding Legislative Assembly Election
Concessionaires for operating casino games of chance are required by law to remain neutral and impartial with regard to the Legislative Assembly Election. Employees of those companies also have that responsibility while executing their work duties. The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Legislative Assembly Election and the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau jointly held a meeting today with representatives of the concessionaires for operating casino games of chance, and of local associations for gaming promoters. During the meeting, the Chairman of the Electoral Affairs Commission, Mr Seng Ioi Man, explained to the attendees the provisions in the Legislative Assembly Election Law and the Electoral Affairs Commission’s guidelines concerning the obligation of neutrality and impartiality. According to Article 72 of the Legislative Assembly Election Law, and in common with public entities, the managing bodies of concessionaires for the operation of casino games of chance – and managing bodies of enterprises, as well as sole traders, associated by contract with commercial operations of games of chance by such a concessionaire – must not directly or indirectly participate in election campaigns. Also, they must not perform any act that results either in any benefit or any harm to a particular candidate list, thereby causing either harm or benefit to other candidate lists. Employees of the relevant companies must strictly maintain neutrality during the execution of their duties, and are prohibited from posting or displaying any election campaign-related signs, stickers, or other items at the workplace, and from using working hours and workplace space to engage in propaganda or canvassing during the execution of their duties. It should be noted that the definition of workplace also includes staff canteens and rest areas; employees’ breaks and meal times during working hours are also considered as part of the execution of duties, added Mr Seng. The Electoral Affairs Commission stressed that companies operating casino games of chance must do the necessary work at management level to convey clearly to all employees the explicit message that they must strictly maintain neutrality and impartiality when executing their duties. They should also continuously remind employees to fulfil their obligations to avoid violating the law. Under this premise, if any employee still violates the rules, it is deemed to be their personal act and their personal responsibility. If a company discovers any violation, it should at the earliest opportunity notify either the Electoral Affairs Commission or the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, to enable them promptly to handle the situation. Speaking in the meeting, representatives of the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau pledged the bureau’s full support for the Electoral Affairs Commission’s work. They said the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau would immediately refer to the Electoral Affairs Commission – once discovered or reported – any suspected violations by gaming concessionaires or employees. If any company has any doubts about details regarding the fulfilment of the obligation of neutrality, it can also relay them, via the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, to the Electoral Affairs Commission. Meeting attendees all stated their organisations will fully comply with the requirements outlined by the Electoral Affairs Commission, remain neutral and impartial with regards to the Legislative Assembly Election, and will continuously remind all employees strictly to abide by the relevant regulations, and will also strengthen supervision in this regard. In addition, the Electoral Affairs Commission issued a reminder to representatives of gaming concessionaires that management of all departments and related enterprises have the responsibility to allow employees to exercise their right to vote on election day. If a company provides transportation for employees to go to vote, as long as it does not involve election propaganda, it does not violate the law. However, if the company gives voting instructions to employees, displays election campaign items, or broadcasts campaign slogans during the ride, it would be in violation of the Legislative Assembly Election Law and that would constitute a crime, said Mr Seng.

Invitation of tenders for rainwater pumping station in Avenida dos Jogos da Ásia Oriental
To alleviate the situation in which Taipa Old Village gets flooded easily during heavy rain, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) launches the drainage optimisation project of Old Taipa Village in order. The first phase involves the invitation of tenders for the construction works of rainwater pumping station in Avenida dos Jogos da Ásia Oriental. The new rainwater pumping station aims to increase the drainage capacity and alleviate the flooding in the area. The mentioned project has been introduced to the Consultative Committee on Municipal Affairs and the Community Service Consultative Council respectively. Taipa Old Village is a low-lying area. Though IAM has continuously carried out maintenance and de-clogging of the drainage pipes, the whole rainwater box culvert spanning from Estrada da Baía de Nossa Senhora da Esperança to Avenida dos Jogos da Ásia Oriental becomes full during periods of continuous heavy rain and high tide and the rainwater cannot be effectively drained even if the existing pipes are normal with no blockages. To increase the drainage capacity, IAM will construct a new rainwater pumping station and new box culvert in an area of about 500 square metres located in the junction of Avenida dos Jogos da Ásia Oriental and Rua Marginal dos Jogos da Ásia Oriental near the cycle track. The pumping station is to be equipped with 8 water pumps with drainage capacity of 37.6 square metres per second, which is equivalent to the drainage of the volume of water in a standard swimming pool in about 50 seconds. The new pumping station and box culvert facilitates the increase in rainwater drainage capacity of the box culvert in Baía de Nossa Senhora da Esperança and Old Taipa Village during periods of high tide and heavy rain. The invitation of tenders for construction works of the rainwater pumping station in Avenida dos Jogos da Ásia Oriental has been carried out. The area of the pumping station does not involve occupation and use of roads and the existing cycle track, so the impact on traffic is expected to be low during the construction period. As the project is launched, the next phase will involve the construction of a small-scale booster rainwater pumping station in a corner of Olympic Sports Centre – Stadium to share the pressure on the existing rainwater pumping station in Pai Kok and hasten the drainage of rainwater. Procedures for invitation of tenders for the project are expected to be launched within this year.

CE sends message of sympathy to Myanmar leader over earthquake
The Chief Executive, Mr Sam Hou Fai, today sent a message of sympathy to Myanmar’s leader, Mr Min Aung Hlaing, expressing his deepest sorrow regarding those affected in the disaster caused by Friday’s massive earthquake. The Chief Executive said in the message he is deeply saddened to learn of the devastating earthquake in Myanmar, which has caused great destruction, heavy casualties, significant loss of property, and extensive damage to infrastructure, greatly impacting the lives of the people there. On behalf of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government and the residents of Macao, Mr Sam extended his deepest condolences regarding the victims, and sincere sympathies to the families of the bereaved, the injured, and all those affected by the disaster. Mr Sam also expressed the greatest respect for the rescue personnel working tirelessly on the relief efforts. Macao and Myanmar share a long-standing friendship and close people-to-people ties, noted Mr Sam. In this difficult time, the people of Macao stand in solidarity with Myanmar, and show deep concern about the disaster and about the affected communities, and are closely following the progress of rescue operations. Macao is ready to provide all possible assistance to support Myanmar’s disaster relief and post-earthquake reconstruction efforts, added Mr Sam. The Chief Executive extended his good wishes to the injured for a speedy recovery, and to the affected areas, that they might swiftly overcome the effects of the disaster, return to normal life, and rebuild the homeland for the better.

CE meets with Portugal’s Minister of State and Foreign Affairs
The Chief Executive, Mr Sam Hou Fai, today met with Portugal’s Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Mr Paulo Rangel. The two sides discussed topics such as Macao and Portugal’s continued exchanges and cooperation in judicial and economic fields, as well as in trade and educational matters. During today’s meeting at the Government Headquarters, the Chief Executive welcomed to Macao Minister Rangel’s delegation and briefed it on the latest developments in Macao and in the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. Mr Sam stated that Minister Rangel was the first foreign affairs minister he had received since becoming Chief Executive, which also reflected the good relations between Macao and Portugal. Macao and Portugal have a deep historical connection, he noted. After Macao’s return to the motherland, the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government – with strong support from the Central Government – has always adhered to the “One country, two systems” principle, continued to retain continental European legal traditions, traditional culture, and customs, and maintained and expanded exchanges and cooperation with Portugal. At the same time, Macao has been continuously promoting its role as a platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, promoting friendly exchanges and cooperation in various fields. Mr Sam added he looked forward to visiting Portugal in the near future. The Chief Executive, Mr Sam Hou Fai, today met with Member of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, Mr Shang Kui. The two sides exchanged views on topics such as leveraging Macao’s role as an external exchange platform, and enhancing cooperation between Macao and Chongqing in various aspects. During today’s meeting at the Government Headquarters, Mr Sam welcomed Mr Shang and his delegation to Macao, and thanked Chongqing for its long-term support to the development of Macao. Mr Sam stated that Macao and Chongqing have close ties, with close exchanges in fields such as economic and trade matters, and people’s livelihoods. He hoped the Macao-Chongqing cooperation task force mechanism would further collaboration with Chongqing in various aspects, to achieve reciprocal benefits. CE meets with Vice Minister of Ecology and Environment
The Chief Executive, Mr Sam Hou Fai, today met with Secretary of the Leading Party Members Group and Vice Minister of Ecology and Environment, Mr Sun Jinlong. The two sides exchanged views on deepening cooperation between the mainland and Macao regarding environmental protection efforts. During the meeting at the Government Headquarters, Mr Sam welcomed Vice Minister Sun to Macao, for the 2025 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (MIECF). The Chief Executive thanked the Ministry of Ecology and Environment for its long-term support of Macao’s environmental protection work. Mr Sam said the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment signed in 2021 a cooperation arrangement between the mainland and the MSAR on environmental protection, in a bid to support Macao in aligning with national environmental protection policy. The MSAR Government attaches great importance to Macao’s environmental governance, said the Chief Executive. MIECF, which has been successfully held for a number of years, has become an important platform fostering international cooperation on the environment and green technology exchanges, representing one of Macao’s “golden business cards” internationally. Mr Sam said Macao looked forward to working with the mainland authorities to promote actively ecological civilisation. While promoting high-quality development of Macao and of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, the MSAR Government will fully align with national environmental protection policies, closely cooperate with other Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area cities, and join hands to promote environmental protection and development, as well as an environmental governance system. These efforts aim to create a green and beautiful future for all, he added. CE meets with Minister of Emergency Management
The Chief Executive, Mr Sam Hou Fai, today met with Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group and Minister of Emergency Management, Mr Wang Xiangxi. Both sides exchanged views on issues such as further enhancing Macao’s urban safety governance level and strengthening the emergency management of the civil protection framework. During today’s meeting at the Government Headquarters, Mr Sam welcomed to Macao Minister Wang and his delegation, noting appreciation for the guidance on optimising emergency management work in Macao. Mr Sam stated that the Ministry of Emergency Management has long maintained close contact with the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government, providing significant support for Macao’s emergency rescue work. This included provision of required assistance when large-scale emergency incidents occurred in Macao and the conducting of joint rescue operations. There have been good cooperation results and significant effectiveness from such work, he said. Mr Sam noted Macao is affected by typhoons every year, and in the face of an increasingly complex external environment, the MSAR Government must raise its awareness of emergency disaster prevention, and needs continued support from the Ministry of Emergency Management to enhance Macao’s public safety management level and urban safety resilience. The MSAR Government has always attached great importance to disaster prevention, disaster mitigation, and disaster relief work. In 2019, it announced a 10-year plan (covering 2019 to 2028) for disaster prevention and mitigation. This was to optimise further the emergency management system for sudden incidents and enhance comprehensive response capabilities. The plan was expected to reduce effectively the number of incidents classified as major, as well as related losses, safeguarding Macao’s overall urban safety, said Mr Sam. Also present at the meeting were: the Secretary for Security, Mr Wong Sio Chak; the Commissioner General of the Unitary Police Service, Mr Leong Man Cheong; and the Commissioner of the Fire Services Bureau, Mr Leong Iok Sam. The MGTO issues Travel Alert - Level 1 for Thailand
Considering the security situation following the earthquake in Thailand, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has issued a Travel Alert – Level 1 for Thailand. The MGTO reminds that the Travel Alert – Level 1 for Myanmar is still in effect. Macao residents planning to travel to Thailand or Myanmar, or those currently in these countries, should pay attention to their safety, stay alert, and keep updated on the situation. The MGTO is closely monitoring the earthquake situation in Myanmar. At the moment, the Tourism Hotline has received 1 request for assistance regarding an individual who missed his flight due to road closures, which restricted access to the airport, and the person requested updated information about local traffic. The MGTO representative in Thailand has already provided him with the necessary assistance and information. Additionally, 1 request for information regarding the travel alert for Thailand was received. The tourism industry in Macao has informed the MGTO that currently there are no tour groups from Macao in Thailand or Myanmar. Through Macao’s telecommunication operators, the MGTO has sent messages to a total of 1,475 mobile users from Macao that are roaming in Myanmar, Thailand, and Laos, providing emergency contact information. 2025MIECF Facilitates Nearly 450 Matching Sessions and Settlement of Eight Enterprises in Macao
The 2025 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (2025MIECF) came to a successful conclusion yesterday (29 March) at Cotai Expo, The Venetian Macao after three days of activities. Nearly 450 business matching sessions took place during the event, facilitating the signing of more than 50 project agreements at the Protocol Signing Ceremony. In addition, eight enterprises established an official presence in the Macao market during the exhibition. Three Green Forum sessions were held during the 2025MIECF, which brought together more than 30 experts and scholars from different countries to discuss topics such as green transition, technological innovation, and environmental co-operation in the Pan-Pearl River Delta (Pan-PRD) region. A Hong Kong-based technology enterprise, attending its first Macao exhibition, had a successful discussion with Macao professional organisations and local and overseas traders, affirming and recognising the functions of MIECF and Macao as a commercial and trade platform. Similarly, a Spanish supplier of organic agricultural products, who also participated in MIECF for the first time, signed letters of intent with large wholesalers, hotels and different entities. They were satisfied with the results achieved at the exhibition and planned to set up a branch in Macao to expand their business. A Brazilian exhibitor compared MIECF with other international MICE events they had attended and commented that Macao’s excellent MICE facilities and attentive arrangements enabled them to get a timely response to their needs for seeking partnership, and that the various concurrent events, especially the business matching sessions, provided them with unlimited business opportunities. The 2025MIECF took “Innovation and Green Development – Solutions to Build Beautiful Cities” as its theme in line with the country’s “dual carbon” goals and the Macao SAR Government’s key environmental policies. Hosted by the Macao SAR Government, co-organised by the governments of the Pan-PRD region and co-ordinated by the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Environmental Protection Bureau, the 2025MIECF received support from the National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China, the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China, and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China. Over 50 project agreements were signed and 450 business matching sessions were arranged to tap into green business opportunities This year’s event featured five exhibition zones and attracted nearly 400 domestic and international enterprises, including over 60 international exhibitors. Close to 450 business matching sessions took place during the exhibition, facilitating the signing of more than 50 project agreements at the Protocol Signing Ceremony. In addition, eight enterprises established an official presence in the Macao market during the exhibition. Furthermore, four “multi-venue” events were held during the event, with approximately 130 participants visiting the Co-operation Zone in Hengqin and Zhuhai for business inspections. Among them were the delegation of Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs) to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the delegation of ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability, professional buyers, and representatives from the Global Carbon Credit Market Development Forum, all contributing to the expanding appeal of this international platform for green business opportunities. Exhibitors were satisfied with the results and planned to set up branches in Macao This year’s event marked a significant step forward in its international participation and branding efforts, with a higher level of engagement from international exhibitors over last year. In particular, more than 40 listed enterprises displayed their exhibits, representing a steady increase year on year. At the same time, the “ESG Awards for Excellence” attracted participation from over 30 branded enterprises, making concerted efforts to promote sustainable development through the exhibition. A number of first-time exhibitors at MIECF spoke highly of the event. A Hong Kong-based technology enterprise had successful discussion with Macao professional organisations and local and overseas traders. They expressed satisfaction with the results and experience of their first-time participation in a Macao exhibition, and fully acknowledged the functions of Macao as a commercial and trade platform. A Spanish supplier of organic agricultural products signed letters of intent with large wholesalers, hotels and different entities. They were delighted with the results achieved at the exhibition and told IPIM that they planned to set up a branch in Macao to expand their business through the Macao platform. Traders were satisfied with the overall arrangement of this year’s MIECF, heaping praise on its reasonable organisation and effective outcomes. According to a PSC exhibitor, the event helped them identify potential partners and expand their market prospects. One Malaysian trader highlighted the increased international business links fostered through MIECF. MIECF promoted the adoption of electric vehicles One Macao automotive exhibitor who secured procurement orders of eco-friendly vehicles after communication with the public sector during their inaugural participation last year came back to the exhibition this time with a new line of electric passenger and cargo vehicles. This year, they aimed to leverage MIECF as a gateway to connect with organisations and enterprises interested in purchasing eco-friendly vehicles, seeking to uncover more business opportunities. The Macao SAR Government has rolled out a series of measures to promote eco-friendly vehicles so far, including the exemption of the Motor Vehicles Tax on vehicles using alternative fuels instead of petroleum since 2002. This was followed by the “Plan for granting financial support for the scrapping of obsolete motorcycles and their replacement by new electric motorcycles” and the “Plan for granting financial support for the scrapping of old diesel-powered vehicles” launched in two phases in 2022 and 2023, which incentivised vehicle owners to replace older, more polluting models. Moreover, the SAR Government has taken the lead in promoting the adoption of electric vehicles, and the public sector is required to choose electric vehicles when purchasing or replacing their fleets. The debut economy fuelled innovative green development to amplify MIECF’s impact as a green platform The roadshows for nine key debut projects were staged during the event, showcasing cutting-edge technologies such as new biodegradable materials, liquid-cooled ultra-fast charging technology, self-driving electric yachts, and smart energy management to stimulate the debut economy and strengthen MIECF’s role as a green debut platform. The project roadshows and business matching sessions provided an effective platform for enterprises to promote their innovative green projects and expand business connections, bringing the exhibition’s impact to the next level. One trader from a PSC noted that participation in MIECF not only raised their enterprise’s international visibility but also resulted in tangible business collaborations. An exhibitor from Mainland China also secured agreements during MIECF, expressing satisfaction at finding important partners through the event. The Green Forum gathered over 30 experts and scholars to discuss future green development Gino Van Begin, Secretary General of ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability, was invited to be the keynote speaker for the event, who put a premium on the critical role that cities must play in addressing climate change during his address entitled “Innovation Green Development and Building a Beautiful City”. The three Green Forum sessions at the 2025MIECF gathered more than 30 experts and scholars from different countries and regions to discuss and share their insights into green transition, technological innovation, and environmental co-operation in the Pan-PRD region. Concurrent activities were arranged to extend benefits to the community To broaden the exhibition’s impact, community tours were arranged during the event and attracted 77 traders and attendees. Traders from South America cited these tours as an effective avenue for them to gain better insights into Macao’s cultural and business landscape. A wide range of green activities were held to promote a green, low-carbon lifestyle The final day of the exhibition (29 March) was designated as “Green Public Day”, which attracted numerous residents to participate in various fun and educational environmental activities. At the same time, technical visits to the Macao Electronic and Electrical Equipment Recycling Treatment Facility and the Cotai Ecological Zones were also arranged for attendees to reinforce exchanges on environmental technologies. The assortment of green activities held during MIECF offered participants access to the latest environmental information and technologies, which raised their environmental awareness and encouraged them to go green in their everyday lives while marching towards low-carbon goals.
